WHO | WHAT | WHY

Greetings fellow Louisianians!
My name is Gabrielle and I'm working on obtaining a Master of Education degree from the University of Georgia. I'm a graduate of LSU, former law school student, current resident of Louisiana (born and bred), but more importantly a woman with a daughter: we are both affected by the overturn of Roe v. Wade and the resulting abortion bans in Louisiana.

The purpose of this website is to stand as a digital guide--one available and easily accessible to all members of our Louisiana community-- for those of reproductive age (or anyone inclined to gain knowledge) on the current laws governing the bodies of Louisiana's women. When I hit my teenage years, I read Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Austen; I never laid eyes on a legal document. This site also serves to alert educators to the notion that state and federal legislation should not be foreign to our students, and a well-rounded education includes a knowledge of laws that influence bodily autonomy and the ability to read them.  Our contribution to this knowledge held by the next generation of leaders aids in building the foundation of a future political landscape in which the impact upon the individual is of great priority and consideration in the creation of its laws.
